SenseNet, based in North Vancouver, builds early wildfire detection that combines AI smoke cameras with a range of over 50 km, solar-powered gas sensors and satellite data. Customers include municipalities, First Nation communities, utilities and forestry operators, mainly in North America. In September 2026 it bought the wildfire business of N5 Sensors, adding ground sensors that detect smouldering fires, on undisclosed terms.

SenseNet spends its Series A on a hardware line rather than building one

Ten months after raising 14 million US dollars, the Vancouver company has taken N5 Sensors' entire wildfire division, staff included, on terms neither side disclosed. It gets ground detection that reads a fire's chemistry while it is still smouldering, before smoke or flame shows, and more than thirty federal and enterprise customers, the release says. A detection firm buying another's hardware, rather than an investor buying into both, is a different stage of this market.
